Meeting point

For the Vatican in the morning, meet your guide at Viale Giulio Cesare 229 (between pharmacy and cinema ‘Giulio Cesare’).

For the Colosseum tour in the afternoon,  meet your guide at the entrance of the Colosseo metro station (on line B), opposite to Colosseum Square. You will find your guide between a green kiosk and the fountain.

Starting time of Colosseum tour in the afternoon depends on schedules of the year:

– from 21 mar 2022 until 29 may 2022:

– from 30 may 2022 until 11 sept 2022:

– from 12 sept 2022 until 30 oct 2022:

In both cases, the guide will be there with a sign that says “Tourismotion”. Please, we strongly recommend you to arrive to the meeting point at least 5 minutes before the beginning of the tour.

Know before to go

  • The group tour is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Please book a private tour
  • Please keep in mind that you will walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes
  • All visitors must pass through airport-style security both at the Vatican as well as at the Colosseum. During high season the wait at security may be up to 30 minutes.
  • Access to the monuments on this tour is not possible with large backpacks. Please take a small backpack or bag
  • Please note that the Holy See may close St Peter’s Basilica and/or the Sistine Chapel without prior notice. If this were to happen during your tour, you would spend more time on the other parts of the tour. During Easter week, St. Peter's Basilica may close for important ceremonies

What to Expect

Save time and money with a combined skip-the-line tour of the Vatican Museums and the main monuments of ancient Rome.

Start in the morning with Vatican Museums highlights, sucha as Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Wander through the vast corridors and galleries of one of the most important museums in the world, while touring in a group of no more than 30 people.

Go to the spectacular Cortile del Belvedere and see the historic maps of ancient cartographers in the Gallery of Maps. See beautiful tapestries by Raphael’s students in the Gallery of Tapestries.

Then, gaze in awe at Michelangelo’s miraculous frescoes in the Sistine chapel. Enter the most important Catholic church in the world as you look inside St. Peter’s Basilica and see Michelangelo’s “La Pieta.” End by Bernini’s colonnades on St. Peter’s Square.

In the afternoon, transfer to the Flavian amphitheater, best known as the Colosseum and explore the largest amphitheater ever built. Learn more about the Roman emperors and gladiators and the blood thirsty battles.

Next, go to the heart of an ancient Rome and see the ruins of temples at the Roman forum.
